Northwest Academy is an independent, arts-focused middle and high school in downtown Portland, Oregon. Studio Wild engaged with a core group of faculty and administrators to develop a masterplan concept which will convert an on-structure parking lot into an active, flexible, pleasant, and multi-functional outdoor space for their students and for the school community. Proposed new features include flexible open space with colorfully painted pavement, colorful furniture, stepped stadium seating, a ga-ga ball pit, a shade structure, a fitness area, and plantings. Priority was given to interventions that maximize impact while being conservative with budget.
