BEAUMONT COTTAGE
This charming NE Portland midcentury cottage got a complete landscape makeover resulting in a variety of living spaces for a young family to relax, garden, and entertain. The front yard and parking strip includes simple and welcoming cottage garden plantings to promote curb appeal and neighborly feelings. The existing garage was re-imagined as a garden shed and anchor point for a small patio and pergola. A sunken area at the back of the yard became a shady woodland retreat. Materials include locally quarried basalt boulders and sustainably harvested restoration juniper for the raised garden beds. Plants are mostly native, mixed with some climate-adapted ornamentals, and selected for beauty, resilience, and their ability to provide habitat to local wildlife.
